Historic 1925 beach house now six seaside suites. Rent the three bedroom right on the water that sleeps eight ( one week minimum, please) or the romantic one bedroom upstairs with French doors and the bedroom overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, or the 2 bedroom family size unit overlooking the Bay. Old Florida wonderfully kept by my grandparents who never grew tired of sitting out on the deck in the evening to watch a deep red sun, set into the Gulf of Mexico. You can't get any closer to the water. Walk out your door and you're on the beach. Kids love it. And Disney is an hour and a half drive.
We're located in "The Narrows," the most beautiful spot on the 12 mile string of barrier islands off the coast of Tampa Bay between Clearwater and St. Petersburg. True island setting. Boca Ciega Bay and the yachts going up and down the Intracoastal boat channel are out your door and right across the street.
Plenty to do on a vacation. Bring your tackle and do some fishing on the piers in the area or rent a boat or jet-ski in town. Home of Crabby Bills, the best seafood restaurant on the Sun Coast with the catch brought straight in from the fishing boats. Sit with the locals, family style, at a large picnic table and try a plate of stone crabs. Or visit Jimmy Iguanas waterfront bar for some night life and dancing to steel drums. Or just relax and go beachcombing in the early morning tides. Kids can go shelling with mask and snorkel to dive for sand dollars and cockle shells at low tide out on our shallow sandbar, an easy wade 50 foot off the beach. The Town claims this is Florida's safest beach on its entry monuments. We are private and on the quite side, ideal for a simple, relaxing get-away.
Many renovations to make your stay a comfortable one. Premium pillow-top beds, traditional wicker furniture, full kitchens, wireless internet, DVD players. History buffs will love the 100 year old red heart pine floors in #6, and extra large original float glass windows that have managed to weather 82 years of hurricanes. Lots to see and explore.
We have received the Superior Small Lodging Award 6 years on a row. Very clean and nicely kept by our off site manager, Kathie, herself a resident of the island for many, many years. One of the last old places left on this stretch of the beach.
The four units in the large house and two units in the carriage house are arranged around a parking area like a private estate. Rent the whole place out for a special occasion if you book far enough in advance. It sleeps 22. Winters are busy with repeat guests so book early. Lots of inside photos on our website and a great view from an ultalight flight that my kids treated me to last summer. Enjoy a truly unique vacation place on the beach. Book your vacation in Old Florida from the summer of 1925. |

From the airport...
To get to the beach, take Hwy 275, West to the Howard Franklin Bridge, cross over Tampa Bay and watch for the sign that says 688 Indian Rocks Beach, Exit 31. Take that exit, stay in the right lane, and take 688 (Ulmerton Road) all the way out to the beach, about 12 miles. The name will change to Walsingham Road along the way. When you get to the light on the beach turn left and head South on Gulf Blvd. for about 1 mile. You will come to the "Narrows" with the Intracoastal Waterway on your left. Look down the road and your will see a small island in the waterway. The Sun N Fun is across the street. Look for the sign with the lady wearing the old fashioned swim cap, like on the home page. If you pass The Pub you have gone too far. |
