Our History is Not the Same Old Story
Florida’s Historic Coast® encompasses St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the beaches.
With nearly 500 years of colorful local history to draw from, St. Augustine’s themed attractions and historical places bring the history and romance of the Old City to life. Visitors staying at local historic inns can explore museums and sites, like the Castillo de San Marcos, the Oldest House, the Oldest School, the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, Pirate & Treasure Museum, the Colonial Quarter and many others.
To the north of St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra Beach is home to the PGA TOUR and THE PLAYERS Championship, world-class golf and tennis facilities and award-winning spas.
The beaches of Florida’s Historic Coast span 42 miles from Ponte Vedra to Marineland in the south. The 1,600-acre Anastasia State Park features pristine beach, a tidal salt marsh, and a maritime and upland hammock. The activities are varied and plentiful – from swimming and surfing to shell collecting and hiking.
Year-round fresh seafood, locally sourced produce and diverse cultural influences define the area as a foodie’s paradise. Along with the more than 95 restaurants in Florida’s Historic Coast, there are food and wine festivals each year. Arts and culture abound with art galleries, theatre and events year-round.
