Since 1931 the Hinshaw family has welcomed guests to the 26-room inn and five-star restaurant. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the “folkloric” village, which is Chalet Suzanne, lies on the shore of Lake Suzanne in an area of Central Florida lush with citrus trees and dotted with lakes.
The 100-acre establishment, located between Tampa and Orlando, is noted for its fine-dining restaurant, which recently was named to Florida Trend Magazine’s Golden Spoon Award ‘Hall of Fame’. The award-winning gourmet cuisine is served in quaint dining rooms that sparkle with period furniture, stained glass, fresh flowers, and staff attired in costume with an alpine flavor. Ala carte choices are also available.
Each Chalet guestroom greets you with delightfully different décor and the comforts of private entrance, private bath, fresh flowers, sherry, fruit and candy; antiques, collectibles, and greenery create a cozy environment. The sparkling pool, lake, gardens and airstrip are only a few steps from your courtyard or patio.
Over the last seventy plus years many celebrities and celebrants have chosen Chalet Suzanne as their special place. The Sunken Autograph Garden pays homage to these guests with their autographed ceramic tiles placed in the garden wall.
Not to be missed is a visit to Soup Cannery, home of the famous gourmet soups that went to the moon on several Apollo flights.
The inn and restaurant is open year round to welcome weary travelers, harried business execs, as well as honeymooners and ‘special occasion’ guests. |
