Located in Palm Beach County, Lake Worth is home to the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, the Lake Worth Playhouse, and the Museum of the City of Lake Worth. Yearly festivals such as the Street Painting Festival and Finlandia Week (a celebration of Lake Worth's large Finnish population), attract thousands of people. In the heart of Lake Worth's downtown, you'll find antiques shops, cafés, coffee bars and three large antiques malls. Historic districts have also been established to help preserve the old Florida architecture.
Many leisure activities are easily found. For golfers, the spectacular Lake Worth Municipal Golf Course features play along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway. For beach goers, a 19-acre public beach is open to the public from 6:00 a.m. to Midnight daily. A popular attraction is The MacArthur State Park. It is located on a barrier island and encompasses a 317-acre coastal hammock as well as a 120-acre mangrove swamp on Lake Worth Cove. It also offers unguarded swimming on a two-mile, very private beach. Offshore reefs are easily accessible for snorkelers and divers.
Lake Worth is also a stone's throw from Palm Beach's golfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, equestrian events, spring baseball training, upscale shopping and fine dining.
