Nearly two decades ago, the first Las Olas Wine & Food Festival took place to benefit the American Lung Association. Originally the event was held in November to commemorate Beaujolais Nouveau. After a few years it was moved to March and for the last several years was held in the Spring as it will be this year on May 2nd.

The 19th Annual Taste of the Beach will be held Sunday May 4, 2014 on Old San Carlos Blvd.  Restaurants will offer samples of their signature dishes available for purchase and compete for top Taste of the Beach Award honors. Admission is $5 for adults and children over 12. Children under 12 are free. Food tickets will be $1.00 each, with a $5 average food serving price .

The Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo began in forty-eight years ago in 1965, as a Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce event. The intention of the tournament was to keep winter tourist in South Florida longer than the winter months and to bring attention to the local charter boat business.

THE COMPETITIONAnglers in 2014 will enter a two-day tournament with up to 4 anglers per team and will be competing for thousands in cash and prizes. Competitors will follow procedures designed for quick releases and the post- release welfare of all tarpon. Winners will be determined by the highest total number of tarpon successfully released, each of which are officially recorded when the Captain or mate touches the leader and immediately releases the tarpon.
