The Coquina Inn Bed & Breakfast gets its name from its building materials of coquina limestone, which nature created by centuries of transforming sand, shell and coral into rock from the Tomoka Basin where local architect, S.H. Gove owned a coquina rock quarry and designed many homes in Daytona. In 1912 this home was built for Dr. Frederick J. Walter, MD. In the 1920s Charles Herbert Nichols, a wealthy fur and hide trader from Trinidad, Colorado lived in the home. In the 1940s, the residence was purchased by the First United Methodist Church as a home for their ministers. In 1989, the home became an Inn and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Steve and Rhonda, along with their dog Godiva (Vice President of Sunshine), provide personal attention and a cozy setting in their four guest room Inn. Guests enjoy the garden gazebo spa, fresh flowers, cable TV, wireless internet, CD/clock radios, private bathrooms with embroidered robes and monogramed towels, five-course breakfast, complimentary beverages and baked goodies, evening turndown service, and an extensive collection of colorful Floridian artwork.
