"I am so happy to say that my family has been staying at the Tropical Manor since 1979. Its truly our home away from home. We have so many wonderful memories of our vacations here. The child friendly atmosphere is something that keeps us coming over and over. Thank you to Audrey, Dave and the staff for always making us feel welcome. WE LOVE THE COOKIES AND DJ NIGHTS. P.W. Sunshine Island Inn
#1: "It was wonderful and Jean was a great host"
The Sunshine Island Inn is a great place to go with family. My husband and I love traveling with our 2 Boston Terriers and have a warm, inviting place to go is a plus for us. It is very clean, decorated well and Jean is a great property manager. There is also a large pool. The beach is at your fingertips.
#2: "A little piece of paradise"
I can't say enough about Sunshine Island Inn. My family and I stayed there in May and it was an experience we will always cherish. I have a seven year old and a thirteen year old and for once BOTH of them ha a great time. My husband and I enjoyed it mostly because of it's size and relaxing feel. It's not like your other large hotels; this place only have 5 rooms which makes you feel like you are not on a hectic vacation, but as if you were in paradise. The staff is very nice and always made us feel like we were at home. I can't wait till next year - we have decided we will be vacationing at Sunshine Island Inn every year.
#3: "Quite Paradise"
This is the 5th time we have stayed at the Sunshine Island Inn. They have never let us down. Jean and Sadie make us feel like family. My better half and I travel the world in the music business and found this place by chance when we were booked at the Barbara Mann Center for a few nights. This place is totally chill. Nice pool, internet access and you are left alone which is a good thing.
Waterside Inn on the Beach
#1: "We Love It! Can not wait to go back"
Just got back from our 4th visit to the Waterside Inn. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else on Sanibel. The location is perfect; on a section of beach that doesn't get much traffic, facing the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The property is clean, and well landscaped. Although it is a relatively small resort, without all of the bells and whistles, it has everything we need. There's two pools, shuffleboard and barbeque grills. They also have bike rentals on site, which is a nice convenience, especially for my family, since we like to go around the island on bikes.
The first three times we stayed at the Waterside, we stayed in the Pineapple Lodge in an efficiency. The rooms are nice, but as our kids are getting bigger, this year we needed more space, so we decided to stay in one of the beach cottages. The cottage was older but well maintained, very clean, and it offered more that enough space for the four of us. Most importantly, the bedding was comfortable. I think they upgraded their mattresses, because the first two times we stayed there the beds were not as nice, but the have been very comfortable the last couple of years.
Altogether, the Waterside Inn provides the perfect atmosphere for those looking for a pleasant, quiet, 'no frills' vacation. The cottage was ideal for us because of the space, and the fact that it added to the 'island lifestyle' feeling that we like to have when we visit Sanibel. It has become our annual getaway. We just got back from our trip this year, and we're already planning next years stay!

#1: "Its a little slice of heaven"
This was my second stay, (would have been my third, but they were booked the last try). Kathy & Bob are INCREDIBLE!! I've been in the restaurant industry for 30+ years and can honestly say finding people who genuinely enjoy making guests feel welcome & at home would be hard pressed to be w/ this team. I personally am not a fisherperson, but many of the guests were, and the fish caught were plenty. The view is spectacular, and bars and eateries are close. If I'm lucky I'll be spending my 50th there!! Even the Housekeeper was great & remembered me. 9/26/2009

Ocean Drive Villas
#1: Little Gem
This is a 20 unit or so mom and pop place that has been completely redone inside. Floors are all white tile, new beds, and bathrooms redone. You don't need a car! A $25 cab ride from FLL or they might come pick you up. Its a 150 step walk to the ocean and two miles of the broadwalk. At the ocean you are right by a public park with bathrooms. Food and drinks nearby! Lots of bars and restaurants. You can't miss.
A trolley stop is right outside. A dollar takes you up and down A1A and into Hollywood for more bars and food. Gulfstream is about 8 miles. Hardrock is about 15 miles west. Hardrock might even pick you up. I have seen the van.
Most rooms have kitchenette. There are two gas grills. We ate in several meals to save money. You can walk to two convenience stores. Publix is about three miles away. 8/11/2009
Ocean Inn
#1
My wife and I have been driving to Hollywood Beach from Miami a few weekends a year to enjoy the broadwalk and great beaches. We decided to book overnight for the weekend of June 27th, and not drive back home. It was one of the best decisions ever! My wife researched a place to stay, and the Ocean Inn consistently received high marks. They are well deserved. The small Inn is very well kept, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. They have a No-smoking policy for the rooms, so they smell good! We didn't have a lot of contact with the staff, but X was great at booking and check-out time. We met one of the owners, and he was friendly and accommodating. We really felt that the Ocean Inn was doing everything possible to earn our business and make us return guests, and they have a grill in the patio area that looks as if it was installed the day before we arrived, but is probably just as well kept as everything else. The Inn is a few steps away from a great strip of the beach, and sits at one end of the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. That worked great for my wife and I, since we loved the stroll to Istanbul for dinner (great little Turkish place). We are planning for a longer stay in the weeks to come, and highly recommend the Ocean Inn if you are coming to Hollywood Beach. in an era of impersonal service, the Ocean Inn stands as a reminder of what good lodging experience should be. Highly recommended!!
