Venice offers something for everyone including beautiful beaches, its quaint downtown shopping area and the old Florida scenery along the Myakka River. The area has more than 14 miles of beaches, from Casey Key to Manasota Key. Venice has long been known as "Sharks Tooth Capital of the World," so it goes without saying there many opportunities to find many different sharks teeth along the shoreline.


Golfing is great in Venice. The area is proud to offer some of the finest courses with a combination of natural attributes, rolling terrain and attractive fairways that any golfer will find challenging. Fishing enthusiasts can find plenty of enjoyment at local hot spots, including the Venice Municipal Fishing Pier and The Sharky’s Pier. You can also fish from the beach, piers, or local charter boats. The Gulf of Mexico, Sarasota Bay, Little Sarasota Bay, and the Inter-coastal Waterway offer excellent marine fishing. A wealth of lakes and tributaries and the Myakka River provide endless possibilities for fresh water fishing.


The Caspersen Beach is the longest beach in Sarasota County and is located south of Venice Airport on Harbor Drive. It has been left in its natural state, uncultivated, windswept, and secluded. This is an exceptionally good area to look for and find pre-historic sharks teeth as well as enjoyable shelling. It is also site of the annual Sharks Tooth and Seafood Festival. Venice Municipal Beach is another excellent place to find sharks teeth and other fossilized material and attracts divers to its coral reef about one quarter mile offshore. Nokomis Beach, a quiet, family-oriented beach, is a good place for fishing, strolling, or launching a boat. You’ll enjoy them all. There are also many beautiful parks in the Venice area, many of which include recreational activities such as tennis, baseball, soccer, nature trails and boat launch ramps. Humphris Park, also known as the South Jetty, is located at the northern end of the city. The jetty provides a great fishing area and boat access between the Gulf of Mexico and the Inter-coastal Waterway.
